The Barolo area
with a wine tasting

Program proposal day trip Barolo

09:00 Departure by car from Podere Tonette.

Set your GPS to the village of Serralunga d'Alba.

Address: 12050 Serralunga d'Alba CN

It is 70 km and takes about 1 hour 15 minutes to drive

As you approach the village there are a number of places where you can stop to enjoy the view.

Serralunga d'Alba

10:30 Arrival in the village of Serralunga d'Alba.

We suggest that you park the car and take a walk and enjoy the village, maybe have a drink/coffee at one of the restaurants in the middle of the village (there are about 10).

Monforte d'Alba - Barolo - La Morra

11:00 Departure from Serralunga d'Alba.

Now it's time for a magically beautiful trip by car through 4 of the 5 most famous villages that belong to the Barolo wine appellation.

We start our journey in Serralunga d'Alba, so set your GPS with the villages in the order mentioned:

  • Monforte d'Alba
  • Barolo
  • La Morra, park there

Address parking:
Parcheggio, Piazzale Monera, 12064 La Morra CN

Of course, you will stop and enjoy the view at a few places along the way. If you drive the distance in one go, the 22 km will take 34 minutes to drive.

La Morra

11:45 Arrival in the village of La Morra.

This is probably one of the most beautiful villages in the entire Barolo region and is well worth a visit. La Morra is a small picturesque village located on one of the highest hills in the region with a magical view of the region and all the vineyards.

Once inside the village you will be met by narrow alleys and cobblestone streets.

..... and yes the view from La Morra is more beautiful than the view from Barolo  ;-)

Look for the square at the top of the village which probably has one of the most breathtaking and beautiful views in all of Piedmont, it is called "Piazza Castello".

12:15 Lunch in La Morra.

There are a number of restaurants to choose from, so even if you haven't booked, you can usually find a place that is free.

We can really recommend "Osteria More e Macine". But remember to book during high season.

Departure from La Morra, it was probably a long lunch and a walk around the village ;-)

Wine tasting in the afternoon

On the way home we suggest a wine tasting at one of the places below.
NOTE! These usually have to be booked in advance.

  • Loazzolo - Borgo Maragliano is a family-run winery located in Loazzolo, in Langa Astigiana, at 450 meters above sea level, in a unique and enchanting environment, among steep hills, steep slopes, towers and castles. Our absolute favorite appellation of sparkling wine Atla Langa.

  • La Morra - Mauro Veglio is a really nice and good Barolo winemaker right on the slope below the village of La Morra.

  • Nieve - Francone. If you like fine Barbaresco wines at significantly better prices, you should book this place. Not as well known as La Spinetta but ooooh what you get good wines for reasonable prices!

  • Nieve - La Spinetta. If you like really fine wines, book this place! La Spinetta has a very high reputation and they have vineyards in both Barbaresco and Barolo.

You can find more about these winemakers at the link below.

The tasting room and the view from Borgo Maragliano,

seriously beautiful!

La Spinetta with the legendary rhinoceros.

Acqui Terme - Dinner

The day can be concluded with a meal in Acqui Terme at one of the many restaurants there. You can find all the restaurants on the link below.
