The vineyard at Podere Tonette

The vineyard is 4.8 hectares (US 10 acre), corresponding to 48,000 square meters, and of this 2 hectares (US 4 acre) are cultivated with grapes from which wine is produced.

We can offer a vineyard tour and wine tasting by our owner Tore who is a sommelier trained according to the international level WSET level 3 (Advanced). Tore will be able to tell you more about the life cycle from grape to wine on the vineyard. Both the wine tastings and the vineyard tours are offered in English and Swedish.

Nebbiolo

The blue Nebbiolo grape is probably the noblest of all the grapes grown in Piedmont. Nebbiolo is also behind some of the most famous wines from Italy, which are the Piedmont wines Barolo and Barbaresco. The grape has been cultivated in northern Italy since the 13th century. It is believed that the name comes from the Italian word "nebbia" which means fog.

The wines produced from the grape often have some of the following characteristics:

Color:          Brown-red and medium in color

Acidity:        High

Tannin:        High tannins

Character:   Red fruit, minerals and spices

Flavor description: Red cherries, raspberries, strawberries, roses, tar and licorice.

Barbera

The blue grape Barbera is also a classic Piedmont grape. The modern trend is towards austere wines produced by a lower harvest and aging in small oak barrels. Many experts consider the grape to be one of the most interesting grapes for the future from Piedmont, even though today it is often overshadowed by the better-known Nebbiolo grape.

Albarossa

The blue grape Albarossa is originally a clone of the Nebbiolo and Barbera grapes. It was developed in the 1930s in Piedmont and the aim was to combine the fruity aromas of Barberan such as plums, blackberries and blueberries with Nebbiolo's floweriness, complexity and rough tannins. The end result is a success according to me and many other assessors.

It often produces wines that are a bit softer in style and not very harsh / tannic. The grape is one of the most common grapes in the world. Pure Merlot wines of high quality can be stored for a very long time in a wine cellar.
